Movie competition


YNCCC, in partnership with Ethiopian Environment Forest and Climate Change Commission, Climate Change Consortia – Ethiopia , Tom Film School and Gofere Acts ,ran a short film competition for Ethiopian youth as a means to create awareness about climate change issues.

Starting from Feb 5 2021 – 15 April 2021 participants were producing their movies. The top 3 movies were screened at the National Environmental Campaign event initiated by the Ethiopian Environment Forest and Climate Change Commission at Hyatt Regency in which more than 50 Higher officials were present and the movies were well received.

CLIMATE CHANGE & COVID-19 NEXUS CONFERENCE


YNCCC office bearers attended and participated in the conference on the nexus between Covid -19 and climate change organized by PACJA in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. The main aim of this conference was for stakeholders to reflect on the impact of Covid- 19 on economies/ livelihood and climate change in Africa.

As part of the Nexus Conference organized by Pan African Climate Justice Alliance Akayou Adanę from #YNCCC participated in the 0. s titled 'African digital inclusiveness in tackling the twin crisis-climate change and COVID19 - the case of young digital activists in advancing climate justice at the grass roots'. Panelists included activists from several countries. Nisreen Al Sayeem member of UN SG's youth advisory group on climate change also took part in the panel. The panel apart from discussing the current status and challenges also forwarded number of recommendations towards enhancing the effectiveness of youth digital activism at local level. Nisreen Al Sayeem gave a presentation will full overview of the opportunities youth have in influencing international policy making processes and also emphasized the need for capacity building for youth at all levels. Akayou also emphasised the need for capacity building initiatives and exalted Pan African Climate Justice Alliance to continue their work with youth in building their capacities.
